Texas Bluebonnets

Over the weekend the girls and I went to Ft. Worth for a family baby shower for Billy's cousin Jason and Alison. We had a great time seeing family. I had a fantastic time just being with my sweet girls.
The state flower of Texas is the bluebonnet. In the spring, the roadsides are completely covered with them. I had been wanting to get a picture of Bailee and Kassi in the bluebonnets ever since we lived in Wichita Falls, but always missed the opportunity. Well, this weekend it was just us girls and on the way home, just outside Dallas, I finally pulled over on the side of the highway and we jumped out for a couple pictures. It was really windy and the girls thought it was crazy cool that we were stopping on the side of the road for some pictures. All the way home we had to shout out "bluebonnets!" whenever we saw some. I love these little sweeties!

No Training Wheels!!

Hope Everyone had a Happy Easter! Yesterday evening Kassi finally mastered riding her bike without the training wheels!!! Yay! She is very cautious/nervous/ and let's just say a scaredy cat and we've been working on this for about a year. She is sooo excited now and I am too. My back was killing me and my patience was wearing thin. We got her a new bike, but she prefers riding the Bailee's old one (it's a little bit smaller, but I ran over the back tire last year and it's a little bent, ha ha....oops.)
In any case we are very proud of her and it is so wonderful to see the pride on her own face as she rides around. Enjoy the video and I apologize in advance for my dorky voice. HA!

Tooth Fairy Visits

The Tooth Fairy made two visits to our house last week. First on Monday when Bailee lost a tooth. Kassi's two top teeth have been loose FOREVER and when Bailee lost hers, I tried and tried to convince her it would be good to let me help get them out so the Tooth Fairy would only have to make one stop. She was not convinced. Bailee got her visit and Kass still had her teeth dangling. They dangled all week long and finally Friday, I trapped her and got them out. She was mad, but didn't even know I had them both out. She was then happy and the Tooth Fairy visited her that night. She is so cute without her teeth. It is fun to listen to her talk. Bai is starting to think she is too old for this kind of stuff, but she sure liked getting her dollar!

Angelic Dream Beauty Princess!!

Kassidy was in her first pageant yesterday! Last minute, I put her in one after talking with two other teachers at school whose daughters were in it as well. We did the natural portion, so nothing fake and outrageous. I had no grandiose dreams or expectations as I didn't know what to expect or what to do. I told her it's okay if we don't win because this is our first time to try. A friend of mine from church who has been involved with pageants for years and years, showed her how to walk so we wouldn't be completely unprepared. And what do you know, she ended up being 1st runner up in her age division and also won most beautiful in her age division! She was so excited and looked so cute. We are very proud of her! Not too shabby for our first time. To say the least it was an interesting experience. Way to go Kassi! Congratulations Angelic Dream Beauty Princess!

Happy Mardi Gras!!

We didn't make it to any of the big parades this year (it was way too cold and I'm a wuss), but the girls had a student parade at their school that was a lot of fun. Kindergarten was to make a Mardi Gras sandwhich board to march in. I think Kassi's was the most extravagant one! Perfect for my little diva. Last year we went on a field trip to the Mardi Gras Museum and she remembered the Krewe Queen costumes. She told me she wanted hers to be like the queen. I think it did the job. LOL. Bailee's grade was to make a shoebox float and they could fill it and throw beads. She was very excited, but is going through a "mom don't take my picture phase." Sorry I don't have more of her. Mardi Gras is always a lot of fun. Can't wait for next year!

I made crown sugar cookies to represent a king cake and put a baby on top of each one (babies, doubloons or other trinkets are typically found inside a king cake during Mardi Gras) for Kassidy's class. They had their Valentine and Mardi Gras parties the same day since we had the snow day.

Snow Day in LA!

We got some snow! The kids were so excited to play in the snow and I got a little reminder of home last week. It only lasted about a day, but there was plenty to play in and there was no school. It was so pretty and the girls just loved it. It was really cold though and I've been spoiled with the Southern weather. No one would believe that I'm an Idaho farm girl! :-)

Finalists!!! Wilson Girls Rock!

Billy and I were SUPER PROUD parents yesterday. BOTH Bailee and Kassidy are finalists for their grade level in the American Heritage Poetry Contest. For the contest they had to recite a patriotic poem. Kassidy was one of six chosen out of 25 Kindergarten participants and Bailee was one of four chosen out of 28 3rd grade participants. They compete again next week as the school will chose one winner for each grade to represent their school in the School District level contest. Of course I'm not biased (wink, wink), but I think they have a pretty good chance. We will practice hard, pray for the best and see what happens. :-) In any case, we are SO very proud of both of them. They did a great job!
